Best Resistance Bands

People have a lot of reasons why they don’t work out, but time, space, and money are the most common. But to get a good full-body workout, you don’t require expensive equipment or much time or space. Resistance bands are one of my favorite low-cost workout tools I like using at home as a personal trainer and fitness writer.

You can use them to work out your whole body or certain muscle groups. They can do everything a kettlebell, barbell, or dumbbell can do but don’t take up as much space. Resistance bands are safer than traditional weights for older people or getting back in shape after an injury.

Researchers have found that resistance training with elastic bands helps improve balance, gait, and flexibility. A resistance band workout is also good for people who have never worked out before and those who do it all the time. Here is some information about how to use resistance bands and some of the best ones that offer different resistance levels, chosen based on my knowledge.

How to use the resistance bands

  • Loop bands, called power bands, are made from a single piece of looped latex rubber. The resistance of these bands ranges from 5 pounds to 175 pounds. They are great for building muscle, physical therapy, and getting better at sports. There are also mini versions of loop bands that are great for conditioning the lower body because they fit securely around the calves, ankles, thighs, and knees and add tension to lateral moves, which build muscle mass and endurance. The strength of mini loop bands ranges from 5 pounds to 50 pounds.
  • Tube bands are straight, created of tougher rubber, and have handles at each end. They are great for people just starting who want to feel more in control of the exercises. Because there is a handle, you can maintain a better hold on the band and control how it moves.

You can stack tube and loop bands to add tension to your workout. You should always start with the weakest band if you have never used resistance bands. But if strength training is already a regular part of your routine, you may be able to go straight to heavier resistance.

Do a few exercises with various bands to find the one you can stretch to the end of a move with. This is the right resistance for you. For example, when doing a bicep curl, you ought to be able to fully contract your arm and hold it in place for a moment before lowering it back to the starting position.

As soon as you can do 10 reps with your starting band, you can move up to 15 reps. When it gets too easy, move up to the next difficulty level. Remember that your lower body may move to the next band before your upper body. This is because the muscles in your legs and glutes are designed to be bigger and stronger than the muscles in your upper body.

The best resistance bands to buy

There are so many kinds of resistance bands that it can be hard to choose a set. Many of these bands come in five or more sets, but you can also buy them separately. It’s best to have at least three weights, light, medium, and heavy, to work for all your major muscle groups. All of them are of good quality, have different levels of resistance, and have great customer reviews.

GYMB Resistance Band Set

This set of three bands comes with a sleek carrying case and a booklet with instructions. I love these since they are made of strong elastic that doesn’t slip and stays in place. This makes them slightly more comfortable than most bands and keeps them from rolling up or down while you work out. More than 30,000 Amazon customers have rated these GYMB bands 4.7 stars.

FitCord X-Over Resistance Bands

These resistance bands are amazing for CrossFit, bodybuilding, and toning muscles. There are seven resistance levels, and the brand says that the FitCord X-Over Resistance Band can handle more than 150,000 repetitions before it breaks. These cords are sold separately, and you can use them as a single band or cross them to make an X. The strong rubber band is covered with fabric, and when it is fully stretched out, it is 125 inches long.

SPRI Xertube Resistance Bands with Handles

These tube bands arrive in five resistance levels, from very light to extra heavy and seller sale them separetly. The handles are great for getting the most out of your strength training, and you can buy the nylon SPRI resistance band door attachment to add more resistance to your upper body and core exercises. Nearly 9,000 Amazon customers have given the Xertube Resistance Band a score of 4.6 stars.

Fit Simplify Resistance Loop Exercise Bands

The brand says that the lightest band in this set is about the same as a 5-pound dumbbell when fully stretched, and the heaviest band is about the same as a 35-pound dumbbell. The set has a moderate rating of 4.5 stars from better than 113,000 studies on Amazon. It comes in three colors, pink, Berry, and assorted, a mix of primary colors. A booklet with a carrying bag shows how to use the bands to work out your legs, arms, back, shoulders, ankles, hips, and stomach.

ROSAPOAR Pull-Up Resistance Bands

More than 2,000 reviews on Amazon gave this five-piece set from Rosapoar an average score of 4.7 stars.
